Dr Cheryl Yu,Researcher and Practitioner of International Higher Education

​​As a practitioner, academic and researcher, Dr Cheryl Yu, SFHEA, has over 16 years of work experience in international education, at different UK universities, working across the space of business development and academic delivery. 

Prior to working independently, Cheryl worked as Director of International at Jimmy Choo Academy, Interim Director of International Partnerships at the London College of Fashion, UAL; and Director of International Development and International Studies at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) where Cheryl created the whole international department and ran the English courses and international pathway programmes.

 

As Director of China & and Assistant Dean at Birmingham City University where Cheryl was in charge of the teaching delivery and quality assurance of over 800 UG students in China; as well as years of TNE and institutional collaboration experience at the University of Southampton and the University of Central Lancashire.  

Worked closely with over 200 universities and hundreds of recruitment agencies globally on Transnational Education, partnership development, student recruitment, staff and student mobility and research collaborations. ​Organised and managed hundreds of high-level delegation visits globally and social events. Successfully recruited thousands of international students to study in the UK. ​

 

Developed three and managed one overseas campus for UK universities in China, one overseas campus with an independent legal entity and two joint institutes without independent legal representatives. ​

 

Worked with over 10 UK universities on Transnational Education developments or internationalisation strategy. ​
